My morning coffee and daily word ritual has once again paid off instead of leaving me hanging with a word such as belated - on valentine's day nonetheless. How depressing.
Anyway, with my looming homework under some control, a full nights sleep (for once) under my belt and having spoken to my favorite European this morning, today is looking mighty fine.
Catachresis: 1: use of the wrong word for the context. 2: use of a forced and especially paradoxical figure of speech.
"Because the word 'journal' itself derives from a word meaning 'day', Mrs. James was of the opinion that the phrase 'daily journal' is a catachresis."
