as promised

1. What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Sitting in a room with those nearest and dearest to me. My family, closest friends and dogs included. Nothing to distract us; just sitting there talking. To cap it off, a cup of the blackest coffee you've ever tasted situated neatly between my palms to warm my hands, while the dialogue bouncing around the room can warm the rest of me.

2. What is your greatest fear?
Letting down the people I love.

3. What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
My constant need to please everyone else before myself.

4. What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Being selfish.

5. Which living person do you most admire?
Ready for the corniest answer ever? My parents.

6. What is your greatest extravagance?
Not that it's extravagant, but I drink coffee to an extent in which some may call excessive.
I, on the other hand, call it the best part of my day.

7. What is your current state of mind?
Desperate. Gut-wrenchingly desperate to find a way to move on from my past - and let me tell you, it is not an exaggeration when people tell you how hard it is.

8. What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
Self-control. If it's worth doing so much of it that it's seen as extreme, it's obviously worth going overboard for.

9. On what occasion do you lie?
I'll lie if it will make someone happier to hear a lie. Some truths are unnecessarily painful.

10. What do you most dislike about your appearance?
Not a particular part of my body, but more in general: I dislike how I appear to myself. I'm sure it's not always the same as others see me.

11. Which living person do you most despise?
This answer could change daily, so I'll leave it unanswered. However, I don't truly despise any one.

12. What is the quality you most like in a man?
If he puts his hand on your cheek when he kisses you, I think he's a keeper. Obviously this list could go on for a while, but this one's up there.

13. What is the quality you most like in a woman?
Being supportive. Often times you need to hear what you need to hear, be it the right or wrong thing to say.

14. Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
Literally and like.

15. What or who is the greatest love of your life?
What: reading. working out. writing. laughing. spring. coffee. high heels. jazz. the english language. friends. family. sitting in a coffee shop with my laptop.
Who: I'm not sure I've made it that far into my life yet.

16. When and where were you happiest?
Hiking the Swiss Alps with my brother, complete with a loaded backpack of: gummy bears, an orange and a bottle of wine. Beautiful view. Great company.

17. Which talent would you most like to have?
I truly cannot think of an answer to this one.

18. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
To not let stress get to me so easily.

19. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Getting through three and a half years of the Missouri School of Journalism intact and with a semblance of my sanity.

20. If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?
A pen. The pen of a famous writer, angsty teenager, aspiring author, distance-plagued lovers. See what people are only brave enough to write on paper, not say aloud.
Weird? I know, it's the first thing that popped into my head.

21. Where would you most like to live?
Paris. Chicago. Washington D.C. The Moon.

22. What is your most treasured possession?
A teddy bear my brother gave me years and years ago. Among other teddy bears I've received in my life.

23. What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
Feeling alone. Feeling hopeless. Luckily, two things I feel rarely.

24. What is your favorite occupation?
Friend.
(I don't need to put daughter or sister because being a friend to your parents or your siblings is what makes you a good daughter or sister.)

25. What is your most marked characteristic?
I'm outspoken.

26. What do you most value in your friends?
If you can just sit there and not say anything, yet feel close, that's something to value in a friend.

27. Who are your favorite writers?
Oh, there are entirely too many to write.

28. Who is your hero of fiction?
Michael Scott.

29. Which historical figure do you most identify with?
Anyone that fought prejudice (Harvey Milk, MLK, Rosa Parks) would be someone I'd aspire to emulate.

30. Who are your heroes in real life?
My brother.

31. What are your favorite names?
I don't really like this question.

32. What is it that you most dislike?
When people are unnecessarily mean. Put-downs. Racism. Prejudice.

33. What is your greatest regret?
I'd hope by 21 I haven't experienced it yet. If I've already made my greatest error, what will I learn from in the future?

34. How would you like to die?
With someone I love.

35. What is your motto?
Shoot for the moon, even if you miss you'll land among the stars.
(mind numbingly cutesy, but as are all mottos)

As this is mostly a self-portrait with words, here are some self-portraits of my own.
Unleash the inner-photographer I inherited from my father.

editor's note: I will try and update number fifteen as much as I can. The loves of my life are exponentially growing. For example, I love LuluLemon workout pants and I'll spend entirely too much money buying them. I love the word-of-the-day calendar that rests on our kitchen counter. I love lots of things, so I'll keep you posted.
